PREP ROUNDS: St. Louis volleyball wins share of TVC West title, Ithaca soccer's season comes to a close
The No. 3-ranked Sharks (42-6-3, 6-0 TVC) upended the Chargers by scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-8.
Brooke Tubbs led the way with an impressive performance of 23 kills, four aces, two blocks and 13 digs, while Amanda Bajena tallied seven kills and eight digs.
Bri Alspaugh also totaled seven kills and three blocks and Kenya House registered two kills, eight assists, four aces and 16 digs.
Michaela Austin got the St. Louis attack rolling with 29 assists.
Panthers sweep Bluejays
The Alma High School volleyball team defeated Shepherd 25-12, 25-12, 25-22 Wednesday night.
Cali Anderson led the Panthers with nine kills and seven digs, while Maddy Seeley contributed eight kills along with 18 assists and digs. Marissa Clark tallied eight kills and Falynne Hudecz added three aces and eight digs.
Hemlock 1, Ithaca 0
MIDLAND — The Ithaca High School boys soccer team fell 1-0 to Hemlock Saturday in a Division 3 district semifinal hosted by Bullock Creek.
Hemlock scored the game-winning goal with 18 minutes left.
“It was kind of a flukey goal, but that’s the way it goes sometimes,” said Yellowjackets coach Doug Strait. “I’m very proud of our kids, they had a tremendous year.”
Jacob Pierce made six saves for Ithaca, which finishes at 12-4-2 after winning just four games the prior year.

Oilers take seventh, eighth
DAVISON — The Mt. Pleasant High School girls cross country team finished seventh Wednesday at the Saginaw Valley League Championships, finishing with 133 points. Bay City Western won the title.
Whitney Taylor took 12th (19:52) for the Oilers, earning second team All-SVL honors. Diana Tecklenburg placed 25th (20:33), while Shannon Bradley came in 27th (20:36) and Graysen Evans 33rd (20:57). Chelsea Oullette ran to 37th (21:02).
On the boys side, Mt. Pleasant placed eighth with 231 points. Saginaw Heritage notched the win with 37.
Mack LaBelle led the Oilers as he was 42nd (17:56) and Christian Driessnack was just behind in 43rd (17:58). Tyler Punke claimed 45th (18:10), Jack Fleming was 50th (18:34), and Kiegan White took 51st (18:35).
