Falcons sweep the Ramblers

Ford’s biggest goal heading into the 2016 season was winning the MAC Blue championship.

The Falcons can now check that goal off of their list.

Ford stayed undefeated and swept Fraser 25-17, 26-24, 25-16 Tuesday night en route to the division championship.

Ford coach Brianna Baker was speechless after the victory, and couldn’t be prouder of how hard her players worked every time they stepped on the court.

“Absolutely amazing, we’re all super pumped,” Baker said. “They wanted it so bad and they worked very hard to get this win.”

Ford (10-1, 23-3-1) was led by Julia Malewicz (12 kills, 28 digs), Amanda Pollock (nine kills, four aces), Lauren Rizk (19 digs, three kills) and Maureen Cronin (24 digs).

Fraser coach Kim Argiri-Slone said her team looked tense, and will have to work on serving, serve-receiving and getting everyone involved on the court ahead of its postseason matchup against Stevenson.

“I just think we were a little tight tonight,” said Argiri-Slone. “The atmosphere is real competitive and I just thought we were tight and nervous and we were ready to play, we just let the nerves get the best of us.”

Fraser (8-2, 16-13-1) was led by Ivy Boggia (18 assists, Amanda VanJaarsveld (eight kills, 14 digs, Barb Clark (10 kills), Shelby Budnick (14 digs) and Elise Vitale (six points and one ace).
