ROUNDUP: Phenomenal night for Anchor Bay's Maria Mallon

Lakeview goes 2-1 at quad meet

Phenomenal.

That’s the one word Anchor Bay volleyball coach Brittany McGinnis used to describe the type of night Maria Mallon had Tuesday.

“She had a phenomenal night all around,” McGinnis said. “She was able to bring us back into games even when she wasn't in the front row with her serve and back row attacks.”

Mallon finished with 16 aces, 26 digs, 46 kills and three assists as the Tars went 3-0 at the quad they hosted with wins over L’Anse Creuse North (25-11, 25-17), Marian (25-23, 23-25, 15-12) and Lapeer (25-17, 25-22).

“I also think our whole team played well on defense and we will continue to work on that in practice as the season goes on,” McGinnis said.

Also helping out were Abby Evans (ace, 10 digs, assist), Justine Stewart (13 digs, 50 assists), Kaela Stoll (ace, 44 digs, five assists), Khloee Stoll (two aces, 14 digs), Nicole Golder (two aces, five digs, assist, kill), Kelsey Cooney (five digs, four kills), Lindsay McBride (eight digs, 10 kills) and Natalie Stass (two kills).

LAKEVIEW QUAD: The host Huskies (8-2-1) went 2-1 with wins over Parkway Christian and Detroit Collegiate and a loss to Yale. They were led by Bella Fresch (10 kills, 12 aces, 10 digs, two assists), Grace Allor (eight kills, four blocks, three digs, five aces), Brooklyn Misko (seven kills, seven aces, nine digs, two blocks) and Abigail Haas (eight aces, 34 assists, four digs).
