Roseville took another step in the state bowling tournament.

State-finals qualifiers by finishing third in a regional last year, the Panthers on Friday won the Division 1 boys regional tournament at 5-Star Lanes in Sterling Heights.

Dakota finished second and L’Anse Creuse North third.

The top three teams in each regional advanced to the state finals that will be next weekend.

Roseville averaged 203.8 pins in its final five Baker games, and then had a score of 1,049 – the best among in the 14-team field -- in the first team game on the way to its championship.

Daniel Radcliff bowled 241 and Theodore Halt had 224 in the first team game for the Panthers. Kyle Houvener bowled 279 in the third and final team game as Roseville amassed a score of 4,248 for the tournament.

Jacob Rolder, Noah Wells, Brenden Sims, Corey Boling and Adam Walzak also were members of the Panthers’ team.

“It’s a feeling of accomplishment,” first-year Roseville coach Bill Wittenberg said. “It was a good day overall.

“We’ve got one more weekend to go to seal the deal.

Macomb County tournament champion Dakota had 4,198 and L’Anse Creuse North 4,158.

Jason Scanlon had a 247 game and Kyle Sherrell a 231 for Dakota in the team games.

Other Cougars bowlers were Matt Jachcinski, Trevor Price, Brendan St. Onge, Kyle Didia and Austin Foate.

For L’Anse Creuse North, Brad Thomas had a 242 game and Jacob Mackowiak a 222.

Other members of the LCN team were Justice Taylor, Kevin Rhoney, Kyle Hayes, Josh Lattie, Cory Mazure and Mitchell Schulwitz.

L’Anse Creuse North was a regional champion last year.

The Division 1 finals will be at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights next Friday and Saturday.

• DIVISION 2: Lake Shore won a regional title with a pin count of 3,898. Also qualifying for the state finals were Royal Oak (3,764) and Fitzgerald (3,747).

• DIVISION 3: New Haven advanced from the regional at Richfield Bowl.
